?Cut Costs when Marrying – Elope!

For those who are planning a wedding, you know how much stress can be involved in planning. From choosing the perfect dress right down to selecting the best favors, every detail must be just right. You are probably also noticing that all of these details can add up to quite a hefty bill. Luckily, you do have a much cheaper option available to you – you could elope!

Wedding Expenses

Having a traditional wedding is expensive. Even if you cut corners or provide the catering, decorations, and flowers on your own, the shear volume of things to buy adds up in a hurry. Think about it. For the typical wedding, you need to buy a dress and all of the accessories, such as shoes, jewelry, and probably a special bra. Of course, you need to also purchase rings and rent a tuxedo.

After getting yourselves dressed, you will also need to rent out a place to get married and rent out a reception hall. You will need to pay someone to perform your wedding and a to take pictures of the big even. Of course, there is also the cake, the food, the musical entertainment, the decorations, and the flowers. The list goes on and on. It is little wonder couples easily spend over $10,000 on this one day. So, the question begs to be answered – is it really worth spending that much on a wedding, or should you save some money by eloping?

Elopement Expenses

Before making the decision to elope, you need to decide if you will regret it later. Some people have dreamed of their wedding day for years. Therefore, the cost of fulfilling this dream is well worth it, since it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. On the other hand, if it will not upset you to have a non-traditional wedding, then eloping is certainly a money-saving venture.

Probably the most popular spot for elopement is Las Vegas. Here, you can get your marriage license, find a chapel, and get hitched on the same day. In addition, you can do it all for as little as $100. Of course, if you want to purchase a dress and rings, that will bring the cost up a bit. But, many of these chapels offer dress rental, making it possible to forego that expense. In addition, there are a number of chapels ready to go that come complete with decorations and other traditional wedding elements that cost a fraction of what it costs to throw a wedding on your own.

What to Spend the Savings On

The great thing about eloping is that it frees up so much money to other things you love. Even flying to a great destination to elope is far cheaper than paying for a traditional wedding at home. Would you rather spend $500 for a DJ for your reception or would you rather spend that on a luxury hotel room for the week? Would you rather spend $1,000 to rent a reception hall or use the money to purchase tickets to a tropical island, a mountain retreat, or a desert playland? Would you prefer spending $2,000 on decorations or would you rather start payments on that new car you have had your eye on? How about spending $5,000 on catered food or would that money be better spent on a down payment on a house? Or, maybe that $15,000 you would have spent on your wedding would do more for your future if it were spent on college instead of on one day.

With so many other options for spending your money, it is little wonder so many couples are choosing to elope. For most couples, gone are the days when the bride’s parents paid for the entire wedding. This is largely due to the fact that many are choosing to get married at an older age after they have become entirely self-sufficient. At this point, most couples would rather see the money go toward objects they can enjoy for years to come, on investments that will pay off in the long run, or on education that will further their status in life. And why not? A wedding is really about just the two of you, so make it special, romantic, and fun by eloping, and save yourself a bund
